Call from Enzyme Engineering: Open-Access (Volume 8: Issue: 2)

Enzymes have played an important role in many aspects of life since the dawn of time. In fact they are vitally important to the existence of life itself. Civilizations have used enzymes for thousands of years without understanding what they were or how they work. The French chemists Anselme Payen and Jean-Franois Persoz described the isolation of an amylase complex from germinating barley and named it diastase. Like malt itself, this product converted gelatinized starch into sugars, primarily maltose. In 1835 the Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius demonstrated that starch can be broken down more efficiently using malt extract than sulphuric acid and coined the term catalysis.

In 1836, while investigating digestive processes, the German physiologist Theodor Schwann isolated a substance responsible for albuminous digestion in the stomach and named it pepsin, the first enzyme prepared from animal tissue. In 1876, William Kuhne proposed that the name ‘enzyme’ be used as the new term to denote phenomena previously known as ‘unorganised ferments’, that is, ferments isolated from the viable organisms in which they were formed. The word itself means ‘in yeast’ and is derived from the Greek ‘en’ meaning ‘in’, and ‘zyme’ meaning ‘yeast’ or ‘leaven’.

Our Journal Enzyme Engineering (Longdom Publishers SL) is an esteemed Monthly, Peer reviewed and Open-Access journal that focuses on recent innovative inventions and recent advancements in the field of enzymology and enzyme engineering. Our journal promulgates all current issues that take place in betterment in the field of Life sciences.

The Editorial Board of our journal is overwhelmed by the response and eagerness of the academic and research contributors to publish with the journal and take part in the year-long celebrations. During this year we look forward to taking some initiatives that would encourage and reward our prospective audience which include clinicians, research scientists, decision-makers and a range of professionals in the healthcare community.

Our esteemed journal is looking forward for the upcoming issue (Volume8: Issue2) having journal impact factor of 1* and nearly 83 articles are cited in Google scholar site. We are glad for the upcoming year issue release as all the authors are invited to submit their recent scientific work through manuscripts in the mode of Research/Case Reports/Case Studies/Reviews/Short Review/ Short Communications/Commentaries/Short Commentaries/Letters to Editor/ Image articles etc., from different regions around the world.

Our Journal welcomes submissions of manuscripts on the topics covering Bioprocess, Enzyme Expression, Enzyme Kinetics, Protein InteractionProtein Purification, Protein  Engineering, Enzyme, Metabolic Engineering, etc. In the quality perspective, the journal is determined to maintain an exceptionally high standard in both facts and ethics. Accuracy and authenticity in the scientific reports of present journal are conserved above all nominal needs of the time.

A standard editorial manager system is utilized for manuscript submission, review, editorial processing and tracking which can be securely accessed by the authors, reviewers and editors for monitoring and tracking the article processing.
